Chicago Food Halls

A comprehensive list of Chicago food halls. These food halls provide a visitors wide range of dining options from some of the city’s top chefs. As of February 2022, these are the Chicago Food Halls that you can’t miss.

Food halls are wonderful for so many reasons. You can go with someone and have completely different meals. They are a venue for emerging chefs to gain and following and get their start. They are a place for established restaurants to expand and open a new location. There is something exciting about food halls. The ever changing options. The social atmosphere. The ability to try completely different cuisines all in one place.

Many food halls have popped up in Chicago over the past few years. Sadly, some have come and gone, including the Wells Street Market, Politan Row, One Eleven Chicago, and Foodlife. According to their websites, Forum 55 and Latinicity are temporarily closed.

Time Out Market
916 West Fulton Market

Chicago’s largest food hall features 15 food stalls including small versions of some of the city’s most popular eateries. Some favorites include Urbanbelly, Mini Mott, and Arami. This food hall is the only one in Chicago with a rooftop bar, making Time Out Market the perfect place for a night out. Turn it into a progressive dinner. Start at the bar, go somewhere else to grab an appetizer, maybe try main courses from different restaurants, then head to the roof with dessert and have one last drink.

Revival Food Hall
125 S Clark Street

This all local Chicago food hall caters to the lunch crowd in The Loop has 15 fast-casual food stalls. Revival Food Hall has a great variety of cuisines including poke, tacos, dosas, salads, sandwiches, barbecue, burgers, empanadas, and more. This food hall is open Monday through Friday from 8 am until 3 pm and is closed on weekends.

Revival Food Hall is just a few block away from Chicago Landmarks like Grant Park, Cloud Gate, and the Art Institute making it a perfect place to stop for lunch during a day of sightseeing.

Chicago French Market
131 North Clinton Street

Although it is called the French Market, the 30+ vendors from all over the world sell prepared food, produce, and grocery items here. The French Market is part food hall and part market. Current vendors offer dim sum, sushi, Belgian fries and beers, Italian street food, empanadas, lobster rolls, pot pies, Indian cuisine, Banh mi, Chinese street food, Cuban food, and soul food.

The French Market located in the West Loop and is attached to the Ogilvie Transportation Center which is where Metra trains depart for the suburbs.

Aster Hall
900 North Michigan Avenue

Aster Hall is food hall within the 900 North Michigan Shops on the Magnificent Mile. While this food hall is in a shopping center, this is not a mall food court. It’s elegant and welcoming.

The space is divided between the fifth and sixth floors with the food hall and casual communal seating on the fifth floor and a more formal dining area at the bar and study not the sixth floor. The bar and study has a full coffee and cocktail menu and serves lighter bites. The fifth floor food hall has vendors such as Small Coeval, Grateful Grains & Greens, The Rotisserie Waffle Fries and Chicken, Al Pasta Tacos No. 2, and Lost Lily’s Stir Fry & Dumplings.

The fifth floor is a great spot for a quick meal, while the sixth floor welcomes people who want to settle in and stay for a while and maybe even work remotely.

Eataly
43 East Ohio

Is Eataly a food hall? Part of it is! Eataly has food counters, restaurants, and a marketplace all under one roof. The first level has an area with counters and seating were you can get grab and go meals, pizza by the slice, fresh pasta, gelato, and desserts. This part of Eataly is essentially a food hall. The second level has two separate restaurants with their own seating, you need to pick one or the other.

Urbanspace
15 West Washington

Located in the ground floor of the 15 West Washington building in The Loop’s theater district, Urbanspace is home to 14 food stalls. You can find Chicago favorites like Edzo’s Burger Shop, Stan’s Donuts, The Budlong Hot Chicken, and Sushi Dokku here, plus famed New York pizzeria, Roberta’s has its only Chicago location here.

This food hall is open from 7 am – 8:30 pm Mondays – Wednesdays and 7 am – 9:30 pm Thursdays – Saturdays. It is closed on Sundays.

A second location will open in the Willis Tower in Spring 2022.

Dr. Murphy’s Food Hall
1811 West Harrison Street

Located in the historic Old Cook Country Hospital Building, this food hall on the Rush University medical campus has food stalls serving up breakfast, Nepalese momos, pizza, tacos, sandwiches, cookies, and cocktails.
