Chicago’s April Calendar of Events

Here are the events taking place in April in Chicago that you won’t want to miss.

Things to Do in April in Chicago:


When: April 7-10, 2022
Neighborhood: Streeterville
Address: Navy Pier

A large contemporary art fair that takes place at Navy Pier. The three-day event features 135 exhibitors.

Chicagoland Brewpub & Microbrewery Shootout

When: April 23, 2022
Neighborhood: Avondale
Address: Metropolitan Brewing, 3057 North Rockwell

This event pairs the best craft beers with the best food items from Chicago’s breweries and microbreweries. Attendees vote on their favorite beer, food, and beer and food pairing.

Garfield Park Conservatory Spring Flower Show

When: end of February through the first week of May
Neighborhood: Garfield Park
Address: 300 North Central Park Ave

This flower show runs for about six weeks, from the end of February through the start of May. Each year a different theme is presented; the 2022 theme was “Knock Knock” and the floral displays incorporated doors from the Rebuilding Exchange and knock-knock jokes.

Lincoln Park Conservatory Spring Flower Show

When: end of February through the first week of May
Neighborhood: Lincoln Park
Address: 2391 North Stockton Drive

Like the Garfield Park Conservatory Flower Show, this flower show has a new theme each year. The 2022 theme was “Pillars of Spring” and focused on vertical planting.

The Other Art Fair

When: April 21-24, 2022
Neighborhood: West Loop

This art fair brings together affordable and original artworks from 110 independent artists, installations, performances, and DJs.

Chicago Latino Film Festival

When: TBD (end of April)

Presented by the International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago, this festival aims to increase awareness of Latino cultures and art forms. The event celebrated its 38th year in 2022 and has grown to include over 100 feature and short films.

One of a Kind Show and Sale

When: April 28-30, 2023
Neighborhood: River North
Address: The Mart

A twice annual show that takes place in the spring and at the start of December. Each event brings together more than 300 artists, makers, and designers. In addition to shopping, the event has workshops, live music, food, and drinks.

Dia de Los Niños Parade

When: April 30, 2022 at 4:30 pm
Neighborhood: Pilsen
Address: Blue Island from 18th Street to 21st Street.

In addition to the parade, the event has live music, face painting, games, and activities for children.
