A guide to restaurants in Chicago’s Old Town. Many of these eateries are located on Well’s Street, the neighborhoods busiest street.
In the past several years Old Town’s bar scenes has exploded. Many of the places on this list are gastropubs and perhaps not fitting for a quiet date night or families.

Small Cheval

A sister restaurant to Au Cheval that serves burgers, fries, shakes, shots, and beers. This location has a 100 seat patio and some seating inside.
Gallucci

The Neapolitan style pizzas at Gallucci are some of the best in Chicago. All pizzas can be made with gluten free dough too. Salads and pastas round out the menu.

This juice bar serves cold pressed juices, smoothies, and light meals.
La Fournette

An authentic French bakery that serves quiches, sandwiches, salads, crepes, and soups. La Fournette also sells bread, pastries, and desserts.
Kamehachi

A family-owned restaurant serves both sushi and cooked meat and noodle dishes. The menu is large enough that it has something for everyone. The restaurant itself is beautiful and fitting for a date night, while it is large enough to accommodate groups. Kamehachi has been in business for over 40 years and is one of the best restaurants in Old Town.

A lively bar and pizza place with creative pizzas. On game days this place can be packed.
Twin Anchors
American, Barbecue
A barbecue joint and old Frank Sinatra hangout that is known for their ribs. Twin Anchors opened in 1932 and is a Chicago institution.

A casual BYOB diner that serves breakfast and lunch. Their large menu has something for everyone. It’s a great place for a quick meal.
Topo Gigio
Italian
A restaurant serving traditional Tuscan-style Italian cuisine. In the summer they have a large patio space.
Orso’s Restaurant

A classic Italian restaurant with a romantic patio.
The Vig
Bar/Gastropub
A stylish sports bar with great cocktails and a large menu of casual American cuisine. It can be crowded on game days and weekends.
Woodie’s Flat

A sports bar with a menu featuring wings, burgers, and salads.

Broken English Taco Pub

A vibrant bar with a menu of snacks and tacos.
Root’s Pizza
Pizza, Kid-friendly
One of four Chicago locations, this pizza place serves up Quad Cities style pizza. They often collaborate with other restaurants to bring things like Korean Fried Chicken Pizza and Butter Chicken Pizza to the menu. They have a long list of salad options too.
Gussie’s Handmade Italian

A chic restaurant serving up Italian essentials like spaghetti carbonara, and spaghetti all’ Amatriciana.
Old Jerusalem Restaurant
Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, Vegetarian
A casual cafe specializing in traditional Middle Eastern food including shawarma, kabobs, and hommos. The menu has large section of vegetarian entrees.
Forastero
Mexican, Asian, Vegan/Vegetarian
This restaurant serves Korean and Mexican inspired cuisine including tacos and rice bowls. A section of the menu caters to vegans and vegetarians.
